The government has made gas more expensive for two gas companies, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), starting in October.
For SNGPL customers, the price of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) has gone up by $0.4966 per unit, which is about 3.87% more expensive than it was in September. For SSGC customers, the price has gone up by $0.5081 per unit, or 3.80% more than in September.
In October, SNGPL customers will pay an average price of $13.3332 per unit of RLNG, while SSGC customers will pay $13.8716 per unit. This is higher than the prices in September, which were $12.8366 for SNGPL customers and $13.3636 for SSGC customers.
According to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the reason for this price increase is that the cost of RLNG has gone up in the global market.
In October 2023, Pakistan plans to import 9 shipments of RLNG. Pakistan State Oil (PSO) will bring in 8 of these shipments, and Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) will bring in 1 shipment.
