Tecno’s latest addition to its budget-friendly Pop series is the Tecno Pop 8. This device is the successor to the Pop 7 and boasts several significant improvements, such as a high-refresh-rate 90Hz display, enhanced cameras, and increased RAM and storage options.
The Tecno Pop 8 comes equipped with a 6.6-inch LCD screen offering a 720p resolution and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. It features an 8MP front camera housed within a punch-hole cutout and is accompanied by dual flash units at the top.
Tecno has also introduced a unique feature called “Dynamic Port,” which makes use of the area around the punch-hole cutout to display useful notifications, charging status, and call information, similar to the Dynamic Island feature seen on iPhones.
Under the hood, this device is powered by Unisoc’s T606 chipset and is available in configurations with 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of expandable storage through a microSD card slot. It runs on Android 13 (Go edition) for its software, and the device packs a robust 5,000 mAh battery with support for 10W charging.
On the rear side of the Tecno Pop 8, you’ll find a 13MP primary camera with an AI camera. Notably, there’s a third cutout on the back housing an LED flash, and an additional smaller flash positioned just above it.
The Tecno Pop 8 comes in various colors, including Mystery White, Alpenglow Gold, Magic Skin, and Gravity Black. While exact pricing and availability details have not been officially announced, leaks suggest that the starting price will be approximately $85 in India, with slightly higher pricing in other regions.
